About Us
For over twenty years, Bizzarro Italian Café has been a Wallingford staple. Know best for eclectic, arty decor and a charmingly theatrical wait staff, the Bizzarro name has also become synonymous with outstanding food. Since the summer of 2005, Chef Mike Easton has been transforming this lively neighborhood dining spot into a culinary haven. Bizzarro now boasts a distinctive array of flavorful Italian dishes, ranging from traditional favorites to more inventive fare.
The menu selections are developed using only fresh, seasonal ingredients procured from local farmers in a 300 - mile radius of the restaurant. Contributions from local artisans, such as Salumi meats, Procopio gelato, and fair-trade coffee from Caffe Ladro, provides seamless support to the artfully devised menu. This innovative "300-Mile Menu" is enhanced by an excellent selection of fine wines and Bizzarro's in-house preparation of fresh-baked bread, and hand-made pastas. And don't even think about making an exit before sampling at least one of the deliciously decadent desserts straight from the Bizzarro kitchen, such as the irresistibly rich chocolate Vesuvius, the velvety smooth cr¸me caramel, or the perfectly balanced tiramisu.
Chef Michael has paired a famously funky atmosphere with an exceptional menu making Bizzarro Italian Café the ideal destination for those in search of a truly memorable dining experience.
Chef Mike Easton
Chef Michael Easton has brought Italy home to the Pacific Northwest. At the age of 16, Michael began his career working as Garde Manger for the Hilton Hotel, and found his passion for the culinary arts. Since then, his natural affinity for cooking has led Michael to Italy, where he has trained under master chefs. As a result, Michael's dishes evoke the elegantly rustic preparations and simple, yet bold, flavors of the old country. Each meal is comprised of the finest in seasonal local produce, hand made pastas, and organic meats and game, all of which help to showcase the true personality that Michael brings to kitchen; refined and fluid, while at the same time unpretentious and alive with refreshing spontaneity.
Jack Kelly
One of Seattle's early coffee barons, Bizzarro co-owner Jack Kelly also owns Caffe Ladro Espresso Bar & Bakery. While taking a break from the golf course, where he shows off his talents with the occasional hole-in-one, Jack keeps an eye on Bizzarro's front of house operations. Lucky for us, Mr. Kelly's been around the block a few times and along with other important executive input, patrons can thank him for setting the ambience with artwork, candles, and some of the restaurant's more unique signage. To help ensure overall quality control, Jack is often seen at Bizzarro drinking wine and harassing the staff, as well as the occasional customer.
